IBCC Lecture & Supper Series - Building a Lancaster Bomber and flying the “Dambusters Raid” - 8th April 27
A talk by Andy Sturgess, who over a 20-year period and 10,000 hours, built a full size Lancaster Bomber cockpit using original wartime parts and then configured it to work as a flight simulator.
On 16-17th May 2023, with a crew of 4 he then re flew the route taken by David Maltby, who breached the Möhne dam, exactly 80 years after the original flight.
The talk covers this unique achievement, the research, building the aircraft and flying the mission along with information about the evolution of the Lancaster and the major role it played in WW2.
