Hampden Squadrons, 1941: A Canadian Air Observer’s Experience

Canadian air observers, especially trained in astro-navigation in Canada, served in significant numbers in Hampden Squadrons in 1941.  This talk recounts the experience of one of them, Joey Jacobson, who served in 106 Squadron from August 1941 until 28 January 1942 when he was killed on his 24th sortie.  Peter Usher's book, Joey Jacobson’s War, is based on his cousin Joey Jacobson's numerous and detailed letters and diaries that he wrote during his training in Canada and Britain, and his service in Bomber Command.
